Welcome to the Old UK Councils forum. This forum exists to share information, knowledge and memories about local government councils in the UK that have long since been abolished, in particular in the years prior to 1974, when widespread reforms changed the face of local government in the United Kingdom. At the time of writing, it is fairly easy to trace local government election results from 1973 onwards by visiting the excellent Elections Centre website. This forum invites anyone interested to share information - particularly election results - about older councils, where it is available, and make it as accessible as possible. I appreciate that older results are also appearing on the Elections Centre website; we want to help in any way we can. I have chosen to categorise the Old UK Councils as an educational forum, to be used for historical and research purposes.

Hi, great idea, I have been looking for a place to save a lot of the information I have around historic results.
However I will make an apology as my posts of the election results, might look a bit untidy, as they are in spreadsheet format which does not transfer well to this layout (tabs etc)
However I will load up loads of results, so hopefully you will forgive the layout. I also have lots of newspapers with results from 1945 onwards, so I will scan those in and load them as well.
Steve

I have used Google Sheets to add some of the early West Riding County Council results - they provide you with a shareable link to their spreadsheets. I realise copyright could be a potential issue - as long as we don't copy the way results are formatted in certain publications I don't see the problem with sharing information which returning officers will have made available to the public domain. If anyone has any concerns regarding this I would be grateful to know.

This is a great forum swan - evidently I'd regtistered on here some time ago but had completely forgotten about it. One thing I notice is that there doesn't appear to be an option to list recent threads as there is on certain other proboards and this is a a very useful facility. Is it possible this could be turned on?

One of the few positives to come out of the virus. The Recent Posts and Recent Threads options are near the bottom of the main page, but I will ask ProBoards Support how I go about making those options appear at the top as well.

It's nice to see an uptick of interest in this forum over the past few days, and here's hoping the trend will keep upwards. It seems David is a very popular name around here at the moment!
